As they defeated the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night, the Tampa Bay Rays maintained their perfect start to the season.

The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Boston Red Sox 9-7 to extend their winning run to 12 games. Taj Bradley won his major league debut with five strong innings.

The Milwaukee Brewers (1987) and Atlanta Braves (1982) both had 13-game winning streaks, but the Rays’ 12-game winning streak to start the season ranks third-best in major league history.

For Tampa Bay, Wander Franco had three doubles, two runs, two RBIs, and a stolen base to go along with Randy Arozarena’s three-run home run and four other RBIs. Vidal Brujan and Christian Bethancourt each hit 2-for-3.

Tampa Bay resorted to Taj Bradley, the top prospect in the organization, a 22-year-old right-hander, when starting pitcher Zach Eflin was placed on the disabled list.

Bradley (1-0) struck out eight batters while walking one and giving up three runs on five hits.
