Since their docking on October 6, 2022, the Crew-5 astronauts have been residing and operating from the space station. In order to prepare for human exploration beyond low-Earth orbit and to improve life on Earth, the crew participated in hundreds of experiments and technological demonstrations during their trip, including cardiovascular health, bioprinting, and fluid dynamics in microgravity.

Early on March, the SpaceX Dragon Endurance spacecraft will separate from the space station and complete its mission by splashing down off the coast of Florida.

The agency’s Commercial Crew Program’s fifth crew rotation mission with SpaceX is called Crew-5. NASA is able to carry out the crucial scientific and technological experiments taking place onboard the station thanks to routine commercial crew rotation trips. The agency’s Artemis missions, which will send astronauts to the Moon to be ready for future journeys to Mars, will use this research to benefit people on Earth and establish the foundation for future human exploration.
