April Launch for the 15-Inch MacBook Air is rumored
According to display industry expert Ross Young, who has a very excellent track record with speculations regarding upcoming Apple products over the previous few years, Apple’s supply chain began producing display panels for a new 15.5-inch MacBook Air this month.
Given that display manufacture is currently under way, Young said in a tweet sent to his followers today that he anticipates the new MacBook Air to go on sale in “early April,” though it’s possible that an announcement and pre-orders might happen sooner. Apple frequently announces new goods at a spring event, as it did in March 2022 and April 2021.
The upcoming 15-inch MacBook Air display size choice would be the biggest ever and most likely be available alongside the current 13-inch variant. Released in July 2022, the current 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 CPU has a starting price of $1,199.
Young did not offer any other information regarding the new model, including whether it would come with the M2 processor or the upcoming M3 chip with a 3nm manufacturing process, which Apple has not yet revealed. Although TSMC, Apple’s chip manufacturing partner, started producing 3nm chips in large quantities in December, it’s not certain if the M3 processor will be ready by April.
Given that Apple is rumored to be planning to update the MacBook Air with the M3 chip later this year, and that there would only be about six to eight months between these refreshes in this scenario, the release of a 15-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip this spring has been the subject of discussion. Hopefully, more rumors will emerge as the debut of the new MacBook Air models near, clearing up the confusion.
