Roger Federer’s photo with Blackpink goes viral
You would have missed it if you had dozed off.
However, Roger Federer’s Instagram became the site where the tennis and K-pop worlds intersected when he shared a photo of himself with the K-pop group Blackpink while they were in Paris.
The 20-time grand slam winner replied, “My kids felt this was a sure IG post,” and it seems they were correct because his likes climbed way beyond one million.
One of the biggest bands in the world, Blackpink is made up of four members: Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé. The group has more YouTube subscribers than any other artist and a legion of followers known as “Blinks,” which is a combination of the words “black” and “pink.”
“blink????” 7 in the world right now Denis Shapovalov, who advanced to the third round of this year’s Australian Open, also left a remark on Federer’s photo alongside the words “Hahaha yessss” and an emoji of sunglasses. Coco Gauff liked Federer’s post.
Exactly five years after winning his 20th and last grand slam trophy by defeating Marin Cilic in the men’s Australian Open final, Federer, who ended his professional tennis career in September, uploaded the picture on Instagram.
Federer has dedicated more time to the fashion industry since his retirement, and on Tuesday he shared photos from Paris Fashion Week on Instagram.
He will work with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, singer Dua Lipa, and actors Penélope Cruz and Michaela Coel to co-chair the 2023 Met Gala in March.
