Andor is a morally ambiguous show, which is on purpose, but it also shows how arbitrarily harsh the Empire was while pursuing its objectives.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Strange New Worlds strikes the perfect balance between the many excellent Star Trek programs and the few genuinely awful ones. The focus of the program is on reviving the storytelling that made the first season of Star Trek feel so revolutionary, even if it is technically a prequel.
Above all, Strange New Worlds is enjoyable in a manner that many recent Trek productions haven’t been, and that merits appreciation in and of itself. It’s certain to fill the void left by many past Trek appearances thanks to its fantastic ensemble cast and mainly unserialized plot.
Severance is both a critique of contemporary corporate society and an intriguing mystery box show about a group of office workers who are “severed,” meaning they don’t remember who they are outside the workplace whenever they arrive at work, and vice versa.
The success of the entire film depends on Adam Scott’s lead performance, but Severance is also astonishingly well-written. Severance is one of the finest series on TV right now, sci-fi or not, despite the fact that the show’s antiseptic office setting may not seem like a natural home for the twists and turns of great sci-fi narrative.
