{"id":2066,"date":"2023-03-05T10:49:19","date_gmt":"2023-03-05T10:49:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brozlex.com\/?p=2066"},"modified":"2023-03-05T10:49:21","modified_gmt":"2023-03-05T10:49:21","slug":"china-will-raise-its-defense-budget-by-7-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brozlex.com\/?p=2066","title":{"rendered":"China will Raise its Defense Budget by 7.2%"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a draft released on Sunday by the Ministry of Finance, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3KYhomR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">China<\/a> is expected to increase defense spending this year by 7.2% to 1.56 trillion yuan ($230 billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to official statistics, China&#8217;s defense spending increased by 7.1% last year to 1.45 trillion yuan, outpacing growth of 6.8% in 2021 and 6.6% in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The amount China spent on defense in 2019 increased by 7.5% to 1.19 trillion yuan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Premier Li Keqiang made no mention of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in a separate briefing Sunday about government activities. The report recommended maintaining our dedication to a self-sufficient, pro-peace foreign policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The work report adhered to Beijing&#8217;s call for &#8220;peaceful reunification&#8221; while urging &#8220;resolute actions to prevent &#8216;Taiwan independence&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beijing asserts that Taiwan, an autonomous island with democratic government, is a part of its territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3SP6Ubm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/brozlex.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/china-defense-boost-to-meet-complex-security-challenges.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brozlex.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/china-defense-boost-to-meet-complex-security-challenges.jpg 600w, https:\/\/brozlex.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/china-defense-boost-to-meet-complex-security-challenges-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the fiscal year that ends on September 30, 2023, the U.S. government authorized expenditure on defense of more than $800 billion in December. The budget proposal also emphasized the need to resist Chinese and Russian military capabilities in addition to domestic inflation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s a big increase over previous years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Treasury figures, the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3kLD5vJ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">United States<\/a> spent $767 billion, or 12% of its budget, on national defense in fiscal year 2022.
